Well, my Suess-ical rhyming has run out, but my need for good help has not.  Read on for details about openings for staff to work at my shop, Farmers Markets, and events:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet most of these criteria:

Essential:
available to work every Wednesday, Friday, most Saturdays, and occasional Sundays
enjoy drinking and learning about All kinds of tea
able to be standing for long periods
can lift 40-50 pounds without undue strain
take instruction and direction well (without feeling personally criticized)
pay attention to details
willing and able to learn and retain instruction
willing to ask questions or ask for help when needed (or in doubt)
self-motivated (meaning you do a good job even when the boss isn’t around)
ability to count money and make change (or willing to learn)
conscientious, responsible & reliable
enjoy (or at least don’t mind) cleaning
want to be an integral part of a growing small business, and willing to grow with it
willing to sign confidentiality and non-compete agreements

Helpful:
cheerful and friendly disposition toward customers, even when you don’t feel like it
have ready transportation
good at thinking for and organizing oneself, and asking lots of questions to learn more
barista or other food/drink service experience
knowledgeable (or interested in learning) about organics, recycling and composting, and being eco-conscious
have proof of Food SafeServe qualification, or be willing to do what it takes to get it (paid for by the company)
have proof of Hep A shots, or be willing to do what it takes to get it (paid for by the company)
have social media and/or writing skills
have creative skills or interests
excited to share quality tea with friends and family
Farmers Market experience

In exchange Traveling Tea offers:
20+ hours per week to start, and adding more hours as you become comfortable with the position
Hourly wage, well above minimum, established commensurate with experience
Opportunity to drink and learn about lots of great tea!
Comfortable (other than being on your feet a lot) and supportive working environment
Though I do not offer health related benefits at this time, if we can grow enough in the next year or 2, there are definitely ideas in the works. I am open to dialogue about your interests and needs.

Butter Beer redux

Due to overwhelming popularity at The Book House book release party in July, we are bringing our version of “Butter Beer” back for Halloween weekend.

Saturday 10/29/16, from 4-8pm only, we will be offering hot or iced Butter Beer, and by request we will have a dairy-free version as well.

Shakespeare in the Streets – Maplewood

We are excited to be in Maplewood, with this event just down the block from our shop!  It is such a novel and fun idea – and we look forward to learning more about our community via the tale they have created.  Shakespeare Festival St. Louis

shakespeareWe will be open extra hours for all the thirsty theater attendees – and you can take advantage of the extra hours as well.

Friday and Saturday evening the shop will be open till 8pm,

AND we will be open 4pm –  8pm on Sunday 9/18 (as well as serving/sampling teas at a booth right in the thick of things)

Short Notice for weekend tea sharing, and meet & greet….

5/13/16 Special Notice:

Saturday, at Tower Grove Farmers Market:
Rie Tulali, from Tealet (our Farmer Direct tea source) will be helping out in our booth, and cupping some Tealet teas.  Rie is fresh from her recent trip to Taiwan and China, meeting with farmers and learning and sharing about tea production. You want to take this opportunity if you can.
We will also be serving some of their teas that we carry [Houjicha toasted green tea from the Kinezuka family in Japan; and Black Beauty Orthodox Assam from Heritage Tea Estates].

Then, this Sunday 5/15/16, at 2:30 in our shop, we will have an extra special cupping session of several new teas that we are evaluating to possibly carry….”extra special” because Rie will still be with us, sharing her expertise and knowledge*….all for the usual price of $12 per person (includes 20% discount off of tea purchases made that day).  *Note, we will sadly not have the elaborate setup shown in this photo of Rie

We in the St. Louis area have been without a local prognosticator for too long. In the spirit of Punxsutawney Phil and Shubenacadie Sam, we are introducing Maplewood Molly.groundhog

New shop – 2707 Sutton Blvd – Maplewood

3/26/13 – Update

We are about 95% finished with painting the walls. Plumber has installed floor drain and roughed in the drains. Sinks are ordered.
We WILL be serving tea samples at the Maplewood Coffee Crawl on Sat April 6, 8am-1pm. Full open and able to sell date is yet to be determined.
