Rie Tulali, from Tealet (our Farmer Direct tea source) will be helping out in our booth, and cupping some Tealet teas.  Rie is fresh from her recent trip to Taiwan and China, meeting with farmers and learning and sharing about tea production. You want to take this opportunity if you can.

Then, this Sunday 5/15/16, at 2:30 in our shop, we will have an extra special cupping session of several new teas that we are evaluating to possibly carry….”extra special” because Rie will still be with us, sharing her expertise and knowledge*….all for the usual price of $12 per person (includes 20% discount off of tea purchases made that day).  *Note, we will sadly not have the elaborate setup shown in this photo of Rie

Tealet Sampling Schedule

Sunday 10/11/15

2pm – Sample Oolong teas

Grower: Goe Tea, Nantou County, Taiwan

Zhushan Oolong – A floral, fruity tea with savory undertones and a silky but full texture. A great representative of Taiwanese oolong tea, with its layers of flavor and large, full leaves of great quality. Soft but sweet aftertaste and lingering aroma. From Alfredo Lin of Goe Tea. Nantou, Taiwan.   If you wish to order, Pricing: $10/1 ounce, $17/2 ounce, $30/4 ounce

Grower: Mountain Tea, Nantou County, Taiwan

Mountain Milk Oolong – Milk Oolong is a green oolong from Nantou County, Taiwan. The Jin Xuan cultivar, meaning “Golden Lily”, was developed in Taiwan in the 1980s to make a soft and creamy tea. Different cultivars have their own unique qualities.

Scented with natural milk flavor, the tea has a fresh, sweet, creamy flavor and a smooth, full texture. It has the beautiful flowery fragrance that is typical of Taiwanese oolong. The aroma and aftertaste are long-lasting, and there is a soothing cool sensation in the throat.  It is a popular tea for dessert lovers and the tea-drinking sweet tooth! It is also a perfect gift for the novice tea drinker, or to help replace a milk and sugar tea habit.

If you wish to order, Pricing: $11.50/15gm decorative tin

Grower: PT Harendong, Banten Indonesia

Banten Honey Oolong – A balled oolong with medium oxidation. Fragrant and flavorful, the profile includes a sweet-tart roasted chestnut flavor and a refreshing, cooling mint finish. Because of the semi-ball style, this tea is best experienced over multiple short infusions, with its full complexity and depth unfurling along with the leaves.  If you wish to order, Pricing: $7/1 ounce, $12/2 ounce, $21/4 ounce
